Kingdom Stage Play Returns: "Kingdom II -Inheritance-" Announced!

We have exciting news for fans of historical war epics! The Kingdom manga, written by Yasuhisa Hara and followed by millions worldwide, is preparing for a magnificent return to the theater stage. The series' second stage play adaptation, "Kingdom II -Inheritance-", will meet audiences between August and October of this year. Hiroki Miura and Akira Takano, who received great acclaim for their performances in the first play, will reprise their roles as our main character Shin, while the legendary general Ouki will once again be brought to life by veteran actor Yuichiro Yamaguchi.
This new production aims to continue the success of the first play, which premiered at the prestigious Imperial Theatre in Tokyo in 2023 and sold out instantly. The subtitle "Inheritance" symbolizes one of the most emotional and critical turning points in the story: the legacy Shin inherits from Ouki on his journey from a slave to a great general, and the deep bond between them. How the stage production will blend the manga's massive war atmosphere and character depth with the energy of live action is already a subject of great curiosity.
The year 2026 is already quite busy for the Kingdom universe. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of its serialization in January, the manga has solidified its place among the best-selling series of all time by exceeding 120 million copies in circulation worldwide. Furthermore, the completion of the 6th season of the anime series produced by Studio Pierrot in recent months and the box office success of the live-action films prove that the series' popularity is at its peak. The stage play is considered one of the most prestigious parts of this massive ecosystem.
The play is expected to open in Tokyo in August and then tour other major cities in Japan. Fans are counting down the days to witness Shin's growth story in this production, which is known for the quality of its fight choreography and costume designs. Details regarding ticket sale dates and the additional cast are expected to be announced in the coming weeks. If your path takes you to Japan, we recommend you do not miss the chance to watch this epic battle live on stage!
