Physical Force Against Ghosts: "Kinki Reimu-kyoku" Horror Game Gets a Manga Adaptation!

In horror games, we are usually accustomed to desperately running away or hiding, but Kinki Reimu-kyoku (Kinki Spiritual Affairs Bureau) completely breaks this rule. The indie horror game developed by Muteki Noto, which gives players the chance to defeat supernatural entities with firearms and physical force, has now moved to the pages of manga. The manga adaptation, illustrated by Sho Yunoko, officially began serialization in the May issue of Young King Ours magazine, which was released on March 30.
The story focuses on Mizuki Shiraishi, who is tasked with investigating the mysterious Saiga Village, a place completely erased from maps and the internet in Nara Prefecture. Shiraishi is not an ordinary detective; she is a professional exorcist working for the Kinki Spiritual Affairs Bureau. While the fact that the village has been cut off from all communication networks points to a dark force behind it, Shiraishi's method of dealing with these "illegal spirits" consists of bullets and fists rather than conventional prayers.
Sho Yunoko, who handles the manga's illustrations, is a talented name previously known for works such as Boku no Kanojo wa Saikou desu!. The magazine where the series is published, Young King Ours, is known for hosting high-action, dark, and cult works such as Hellsing and Drifters. This has already excited fans about how wild and impressive the game's "exorcism through physical force" theme will be handled in the manga.
The production, which also made a big splash in the gaming world, was released for PC via Steam on October 4, 2024, and received very positive feedback from players. The wait continues for console players; the game is planned to be released for PS5 and Xbox Series on July 16, 2025, and for the next-generation Switch 2 in 2026. With the start of the manga, it is expected that the story depth of this unique universe will increase and more details about Shiraishi's past will come to light.
