Volume 1 of 'Komebitsu' Manga Series Adapted from Kurodome Hagane's Novel Released
In Japan, the light novel series “米櫃「不老不死のお薬だしときますね」” (Komebitsu: I Leave the Elixir of Immortality), written by Blackie Hakan (Kurodome Hagane), has been released as a manga adaptation. The first volume was published on June 25, 2025, by Hifumi Shobo.
The story follows a girl known for her strong character on a “slow-paced” adventure in a fantasy world to deliver an elixir of immortality. The terms “米櫃” (komebitsu – rice chest) in the title and “elixir of immortality” promise a warm and humorous atmosphere. This type of “comforting adventure” (iyashikei) stories have been gaining popularity in recent years among readers wanting to escape from fast-paced works.
Blackie Hakan is an author who has worked on various light novel projects before. With his new series, he prefers a character-driven, dialogue-heavy narrative. The manga’s artist has not been officially announced yet, but the art in the first volume successfully reflects the novel’s cheerful tone. Hifumi Shobo is known for previously publishing fantasy-comedy series such as Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear and The Reincarnated Villainess’s Afternoon Tea.
Although the manga is not yet a full-fledged “isekai” (other world transfer), it offers a story set in a classic fantasy world. Readers can expect a journey filled with quirky side characters and lighthearted comedic events as the strong-willed girl delivers the elixir. The release date for the second volume has not been announced yet, but the positive reception to the first volume may accelerate plans.
