Kuroha's New Occult Comedy SATANICA Launches on Shonen Jump+

Kuroha, a beloved name in the manga world, has returned with their exciting new project, SATANICA. The series, which began serialization on Shueisha's digital platform Shonen Jump+ on May 9, 2026, blends occultism with absurd comedy. Having gained a large following with the Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku (Chronicles of the Going Home Club) series, the mangaka brings their unique sense of humor to the forefront in this new work.
SATANICA follows the entertaining events that take place in a high school occult research club. When club members Machino and their friends face the threat of the student council shutting them down, they resort to an extraordinary method to save the club: summoning a demon! However, rather than a dark and frightening atmosphere, the situation is handled in a very relaxed tone, blended with casual conversations over snacks and everyday comedic elements. The first chapters of the series have received full marks from readers for the characters' pragmatic approaches and their reactions to unexpected supernatural events.
Mangaka Kuroha is known in the industry particularly for dynamic dialogue between characters and their "boke-tsukkomi" (straight man and funny man) style of humor. In addition to Kitakubu Katsudou Kiroku, which was adapted into an anime in 2013, they have produced successful works such as Magical Pâtissier Kosaki-chan!!, a spin-off of the Nisekoi series, and Datenshi-ron. The appearance of the artist's signature "seal" avatar, which shows up in almost all of their works, in SATANICA has been a delightful detail for loyal fans.
