Kyoko Kumagai's "Tokyo Shinrou" Manga Ends: Story to be Crowned with an Epilogue

The latest work by Kyoko Kumagai, a beloved name in the shōjo manga world, Tokyo Shinrou (Tokyo § Shinrou), officially ended in the 9th issue of Sho-Comi magazine, which hit shelves on April 3rd. However, the story does not end completely here; the magazine's management announced that a special epilogue chapter will be published for fans of the series. This news comes as a great surprise and consolation for readers who were caught off guard by the series' finale.
The series focuses on the impressive and mystical relationship between Kuuon, a divine messenger with the power to fight monsters hiding in the shadows of Tokyo, and Sai, a priestess who enhances his power. The "kemomimi" (animal-eared character) theme and the scenes where Kuuon's feelings for Sai deepen were particularly popular among readers. This adventure, which began in November 2023, quickly managed to gain a loyal following with Kumagai's unique and elegant art style.
Kyoko Kumagai is known to fans of the genre especially for her 18-volume magnum opus Chocolate Vampire and the time-travel themed Katayoku no Labyrinth. Compared to her previous works, Tokyo Shinrou has carved a special place in the author's bibliography by offering a more compact story of approximately 5 volumes. The author's ability to blend fantasy elements with romance was at the forefront in this series as well, making it one of the most notable works in the magazine published under Shogakukan.
Fans are now eagerly waiting to see in which issue the epilogue, which is expected to close all open plot threads and shed light on the characters' future, will be published. An official announcement regarding the release date of the series' final volume is planned for the coming weeks. If you also enjoy supernatural love stories and mystical atmospheres, Tokyo Shinrou could be a great option to add to your library as a completed series.
