Legendary Names Together: New Manga "Holo Beat" Begins in CoroCoro Magazine

Giant names of the manga world have come together under the roof of Monthly CoroCoro Comic, the first medium that comes to mind when children's magazines are mentioned. With the June issue released on May 15, the new manga series titled Holo Beat has officially begun. Focusing on the struggle of a child and a yokai (supernatural beings in Japanese folklore) together, this series has made a big splash not only with its subject matter but also with the names behind it.
The team behind the series is like a "parade of stars." The legendary Shigenobu Matsumoto, known for the Duel Masters series, is responsible for the story structure and drafts. The character designs bear the signature of Akira Amano, the mind behind cult works such as Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Psycho-Pass, and Ron Kamonohashi: Deranged Detective. Additionally, the famous author of The Irregular at Magic High School (Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei) series, Tsutomu Sato, provides script support, while the illustrations are handled by the talented artist Akira Tsuruta.
This collaboration is a rare and exciting situation for the manga industry. The CoroCoro magazine, which generally appeals to a younger audience, seems to be targeting a wider age group with this move. How Akira Amano's unique aesthetic drawing style would come to life in a children's magazine was a subject of great curiosity among fans from the moment it was announced. The combination of Matsumoto's action-packed narrative and Amano's iconic character designs has already given the series a strong identity.
