One of the darkest and most aesthetic corners of the manga world, the Litchi Hikari Club universe, has returned with a massive announcement that will excite fans. Renowned artist Usamaru Furuya has completed a four-year coloring process for the series' prequel, Litchi Hikari Club Schweigen (also known as Bokurano Hikari Club in Japan). This special edition, which has been meticulously colored in its entirety, takes the series' famous grotesque and gothic atmosphere to a whole new level.
Pre-orders for this special collector's item have officially opened via the Japan-based Vanilla Gallery web store. Fans have until June 7 at 7:00 PM (JST) to secure this rare work. Shipping is scheduled for the end of August. Offering different options for collectors, the edition is available in three packages: the Standard Set for 18,300 JPY, the Medium Set for 22,150 JPY, and the Complete Set for 64,500 JPY.
So, what makes this series so special? Litchi Hikari Club traces its origins to a 1985 stage play by the Tokyo Grand Guignol theater troupe. Usamaru Furuya adapted this disturbing story into a manga in 2005, gaining a worldwide cult following. The quest for "perfect beauty" by characters like Zera, Tamiya, and Jaibo, and the tragic end of the fascist club they formed, is considered one of the most striking works in manga history.
Schweigen adds depth to the story by explaining how this dark club was founded and detailing the members' childhoods. Furuya's oil painting training and aesthetic background at Tama Art University are reflected in this new full-color
