New Cast Members Announced for Live-Action 'In the Clear Moonlit Dusk' Film

The new trailer for the live-action film “In the Clear Moonlit Dusk” reveals five additional cast members. According to Anime News Network, Rintarō Mizusawa, Yuna Hoshino, Sayu Suzukawa, Takato Ōkura, and Tatsumi Asa have joined the cast. Although the trailer gives brief hints about the characters they portray, their specific roles have not yet been fully disclosed.
The film is based on the manga of the same name by Mika Yamamori. Published in Kodansha's Dessert magazine between 2020 and 2023, “In the Clear Moonlit Dusk” (known in Japanese as Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki) has completed 12 volumes in Japan alone and is considered a modern classic of the romantic shōjo genre. The story follows a sweet relationship that begins when high school student Yoi Takiguchi meets the mysterious and popular student Kohaku. The manga has gained a large fan base, especially for its elegant artwork and emotional depth.
The live-action adaptation had previously announced its lead cast: Mei Hata as Yoi and Ryōsei Fujimoto as Kohaku. The new cast members are expected to play school friends, family members, or supporting characters. The film is directed by Mikiya Sanada with a script by Yūko Aoyagi. Filming was completed in 2025, and the film is scheduled for release in Japan in the summer of 2026.
Adapting a manga into a live-action film is always exciting as well as risky. However, Yamamori's fans are quite hopeful, especially given the atmosphere and casting choices seen in the trailer. The new trailer stands out with scenes that reflect the chemistry between characters and the romantic tone of the story. The film is expected to continue promotion with a new trailer or poster in the coming months. If you want to see a sweet love story on the big screen, stay tuned!
