Maki Fujita's Fantasy Series "Ka no Yo no Kemono ga Miru Yume wa" Has Concluded

We are here with a farewell from the manga world! The beloved artist Maki Fujita's manga Ka no Yo no Kemono ga Miru Yume wa (The Dream the Beast of the Other World Sees), which has been followed with interest for some time, has officially come to an end. The story concluded with the final chapter published in the June 2026 issue of Akita Shoten's Monthly Princess magazine.
If you want to add the series to your physical collection, we have good news: the third and final compiled volume (tankoubon) of the series will be released in Japan on July 15, 2026. This journey, which began on May 7, 2024, has been completed as a compact three-volume series after exactly two years. Leaving the story at the right time without dragging it out is generally seen as a factor that maintains the quality of the series.
So, what was this short but impressive series about? At the center of the story is Sera, a high school student who can never seem to stay out of trouble. Sera's life changes completely when she meets her new bodyguard, who is "full of hatred" but equally impressive, and who doesn't hesitate to crush people. Described as a "lyrical fantasy," this work blended the tense and romantic relationship between two polar opposite characters with supernatural elements.
Author Maki Fujita is actually no stranger to the manga world. We know her from her previous successful works such as Platinum Garden, Kids Joker, and Hiiro no Uta. In particular, the Platinum Garden series was translated into English at one point and reached a wide international fan base. Fujita's unique elegant drawing style and character depth managed to enchant her fans in this latest work as well.
With the final volume coming out on July 15th,
