MAMBA: A Supernatural Thriller from Tetsuichi – First Volume on Shelves!

One of the unique voices in the manga world, Tetsuichi (also known as Tetsukazu in some sources), has returned with a surprising genre shift that will leave readers stunned. Having previously gained a large fanbase with the popular romantic comedy series Futagotachi no Shojijou (The Twins' Circumstances), the author is now turning their focus toward dark mystery. The first volume of their new series, MAMBA: Special Outsourcing Agency Magical Step 19th Branch (MAMBA: Tokushu Gyoumu Itaku Kikan Magical Step Dai 19 Bunshitsu), hit shelves in Japan on May 12, 2026, under KADOKAWA’s Beam Comics label.
The story of the series centers around a secret agency that handles cases beyond the reach of normal law enforcement—cases that push the boundaries of logic and contain occult elements. Our characters, who work at the 19th branch of this institution called Magical Step, intervene in strange and terrifying events under "special work contracts." At the head of the branch is the mysterious chief Tokimura, who looks like a child at first glance but has solved countless suspicious cases. The story opens the doors to a dark investigation that begins with the sentence, "I want to ask questions about the deaths that have been occurring recently."
Looking at the author's career, we can see that this new series marks a major stylistic shift. After Futagotachi no Shojijou, which was published between 2020 and 2022 and focused on a love triangle, Tetsuichi is now adapting to the famously unconventional and artistic atmosphere of Monthly Comic Beam magazine. MAMBA is not just a detective story; it is a seinen (aimed at an adult male audience) that blends horror and supernatural elements.
