Manga About Woman Becoming LINE Friends with Husband's Mistress Gets Live-Action Short Series Adaptation

The popular manga "I Tried Becoming Friends with My Husband's Mistress on LINE" (original Japanese title: Dan'na no Uwaki Aite to LINE Tomodachi ni Natte Mita), created by Hatch and illustrated by Universal Publishing, is being adapted into a live-action short series. The series will be released on the vertical video app TateDora (タテドラ) in early fall 2026.
According to the announcement, the main character Hatchi will be played by former HKT48 member and actress Watanabe Miho. The role of Hatchi's husband Tetsu will be portrayed by well-known comedian Higashi Bukuro (from the group Saraba Seishun no Hikari). The production aims to bring the story's themes of modern fidelity and digital relationships to the screen in a short, impactful format.
The original manga follows a woman who becomes friends with her husband's mistress on LINE to get to know her. The story has surprised readers with unexpected friendships and complex emotional twists, gaining significant attention on web platforms. TateDora has emerged in recent years as a digital drama platform that adapts popular manga and webcomics into vertical short videos.
This adaptation is exciting as it brings a beloved story to a new medium. Watanabe Miho's acting and Higashi Bukuro's comedic experience could add a new dimension to the characters. While no detailed filming schedule has been announced, fans are eagerly awaiting fall 2026. The number of episodes and their duration on the platform will be announced at a later date.
