A Sad Loss for the Manga World: Suketto Sanjō!! Creator Rakko Has Passed Away

The manga world has been shaken by the sudden passing of a talented figure. Manga artist Rakko, who reached a wide fan base especially with works aimed at adults, passed away on March 20, 2026, due to heart failure. The news of the artist's death was announced on March 27 by his sibling, also an artist, via his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Rakko was best known for his series Suketto Sanjō!!, which inspired an original video animation (OVA) in 2020. Making a difference in the adult manga genre with his unique clean drawing style and character designs, the artist produced many notable works throughout his career, such as Kurokuro: Black Chronicle, Black Nurse Maya, and Mechashiko Seven. His works were generally published in prestigious magazines such as Comic Exe (GOT).
According to the statement made by the artist's sibling, Rakko felt unwell on the day he passed away and called an ambulance himself. However, despite all interventions, he could not be saved. Respecting the artist's will and privacy, his family held the funeral ceremony privately, with only close family members in attendance. The artist continued to actively produce content on the Pixiv Fanbox platform and interact with his fans until shortly before his passing.
This painful loss has caused great sadness in the manga community. Rakko's works will be remembered not only as adult content but also for their artistic quality and the aesthetic understanding that raised the standards of the genre. The artist's legacy will continue to live on through the dozens of chapters he left behind and the characters he brought to the world of animation. We extend our condolences to his fans and the manga community.
