April 20, 2026 Manga Bulletin: New Series from the Creator of Gintama and Major Volumes Released!

We have woken up to a very busy Monday morning for manga lovers! According to the current lists shared by Comic Natalie, as of April 20, 2026, both new issues of weekly magazines and new tankobon volumes eagerly awaited by collectors have been released in Japan. The biggest news of the day undoubtedly came from the Weekly Shonen Jump front. The creator of the legendary Gintama series, Hideaki Sorachi, has made a magnificent return to the magazine after a long hiatus with his new series titled 2-nen B-gumi Yusha Destroyers (Class 2B Hero Destroyers).
Starting in the 21st issue of Weekly Shonen Jump, this new series presents a fantasy comedy story focusing on a demon king who is kicked out of his castle by a group of heroes. This debut marks the final link in the three-series launch planned by the magazine for the spring 2026 season. As you may recall, Roku no Okashina Ie by Atsushi Nakamura and the basketball-themed manga Natsu to Mushikago by Masayoshi Satosho were also released to readers earlier in April. Following some recent cancellations, the magazine is entering a very ambitious period with this fresh blood.
It is not just magazines; there is a parade of stars on the new volume (tankobon) side as well. Important volumes hitting the shelves as of today include Spy x Family (Volume 17), Dandadan (Volume 23), and Akane-banashi (Volume 21). This month is particularly special for Akane-banashi fans, as the anime adaptation of the series also began meeting audiences just a few weeks ago, on April 4th. Additionally, the 17th volumes of series that have gained popularity on digital platforms, such as Marriage Toxin and Kindergarten Wars, are among the other notable releases on today's list.
This intensity in the manga industry directly affects global digital platforms as well as physical sales. Simultaneous with these releases in Japan, it is possible to access new chapters and digital volumes via Manga Plus and Viz Media. Although 2026 is a transition period where giants like Jujutsu Kaisen have concluded, we see that the industry maintains its dynamism with the return of master names like Sorachi and the rise of next-generation hits like Kagurabachi. If you are a collector, don't forget to add the new volumes of your favorite series to your list!
