Manta Platform Opens Its Doors to the World of Manga: WIND BREAKER and Medalist Are Now Live!
Manta, one of the biggest players in the webtoon world, has officially announced a new era for its platform today. Previously known only for vertical-format webtoons and web novels, the platform is now incorporating Japanese manga into its library. With this expansion, which went live on April 7, 2026, major titles with millions of fans worldwide, such as WIND BREAKER and the award-winning sports series Medalist, have been made available to readers.
The platform's initial manga selection looks quite ambitious. WIND BREAKER, the popular fighting series written by Satoru Nii and adapted into an anime by CloverWorks studio, will be a focal point for action fans. On the other hand, Medalist, which delves deep into the world of figure skating and won the Kodansha Manga Awards in 2024, has also taken its place in the library. Additionally, The Fragrant Flower Blooms With Dignity (Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku), a beloved example of the romance genre, is among the important works entering the platform with this first wave.
Manta, a subsidiary of the South Korea-based RIDI Corporation, is reinforcing its vision of becoming an "all-in-one" storytelling platform with this move. In his statement, the platform's CEO Asher Won noted that webtoons, web novels, and manga each have their own unique identity, and emphasized that they aim for readers to access all this content through a single ecosystem without needing to switch between different platforms. With over 19 million downloads, the app has significantly strengthened its position in global competition with this move.
Another exciting piece of news for readers is the special collaboration with Kodansha. As part of the campaign, which will be valid between April 7 and April 20, discounts of up to 90% are offered on the first volumes of over 400 manga titles. Thanks to Manta's hybrid business model, users can purchase chapters individually using the Gems system or take advantage of Premium membership benefits. This major entry into the world of manga is expected to grow even further with new publisher partnerships in the coming months.
