Maou no Musume wa Yuusha to Seiryaku Kekkon Shitai: The Demon King's Daughter Who Wants to Marry the Hero Takes the Stage!

The first volume of the series Maou no Musume wa Yuusha to Seiryaku Kekkon Shitai (The Demon King's Daughter Wants a Political Marriage with the Hero), written by mangaka Rismai and having garnered great attention in a short time, hit shelves in Japan as of June 26. Serialized in Ichijinsha's Monthly ComicREX magazine, the series combines a classic fantasy world with an unconventional romantic comedy plot.
The story begins with an unexpected step taken to end the endless war between the Demon race's land of Idéal and the human kingdom of Étoile. The Demon King's daughter, Lieselotte, is sent to the human world to marry the Hero Schmerz, humanity's greatest defender, as a guarantee of peace. However, while she appears to be a "political hostage" on the outside, Lieselotte actually has a very different plan: she has been head-over-heels in love with the Hero since childhood and is dying to turn this marriage into the romance of her dreams.
The series draws the reader in, especially with the main character Lieselotte's overly excited (doki-doki) moments and clumsiness when she is around Schmerz, despite her attempts to appear as a cold-blooded princess. Rismai, already known for character-driven narratives, succeeds in handling the "enemies-to-lovers" theme with a humorous tone in this series as well. Details such as the magic ring Schmerz uses to restrain Lieselotte's powers make the dynamic between the two both tense and entertaining.
The manga, which began its publication life in Monthly ComicREX in November 2025, is compared by fans of the genre to popular series like Love After World Domination. With the release of the first volume, the series' popularity is expected to grow, paving the way for a future anime adaptation. If you are looking for a sweet and funny love story set in a fantasy world, you should definitely check out the strange marriage journey of Lieselotte and Schmerz.
