matoba Starts a New Fantasy Series with 'Eden no Tō'

matoba's new manga "Eden no Tō" (Tower of Eden) officially begins its publication life on August 12. This time, the artist will take readers into a completely fantasy universe. Although a detailed plot summary for the series has not yet been shared, the choice of title and genre has excited fans quite a bit.
Those who know matoba well are aware: They previously created the series "Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included" (known in Japanese as Shachiku-san wa Yōjo Yuurei ni Iyashitai.). While matoba explored the warm relationship between an office worker and a little ghost girl in that series, they are now turning towards a more epic narrative. As the name suggests, "Eden no Tō" is expected to offer an adventure revolving around a mysterious tower.
matoba's previous series drew attention, especially with its calm and emotional story, and gained a loyal fan base both in Japan and internationally. Now all eyes are on the new project: Will matoba be able to carry the same simple narrative style into a fantasy world? Although the magazine where the first chapter will be published has not yet been officially announced, considering that matoba has worked for Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine in the past, it is likely that the new series will appear on the same platform.
This news comes at a time when the fantasy manga trend is on the rise. "Eden no Tō" could be a breath of fresh air for both matoba fans and lovers of the genre. Following the release of the first chapter on August 12, the frequency of the series and potential English/Turkish licensing agreements are eagerly awaited. Stay tuned for updates!
