Two Beloved Manga Series Reach Their Finale: Mii-chan and Miss Yamada and Lonely Deaths Lie Thick as Snow Say Goodbye

The manga world seems set for a very busy and equally sad summer. Two major series published on Kodansha's popular digital platform Magazine Pocket, which have reached a wide audience, have officially announced the release dates for their final volumes. The conclusion of these drama and thriller series has already sparked great curiosity among their followers.
First, the noir-thriller Lonely Deaths Lie Thick as Snow (Furitsumore Kodoku na Shi yo), written by Hajime Inoryū and illustrated by Shota Itō, will conclude its story with its 13th volume to be published in August. The series follows a dark investigation that begins with the discovery of 13 children's bodies in a mansion and Detective Jin Saeki's efforts to solve this mystery. Starting in 2021 and adapted into a successful live-action series in 2024, this work is known for its psychological depth and plot twists.
On the other hand, Mii-chan and Miss Yamada (Mii-chan to Yamada-san), penned by Nene Azuki and noted for its emotional weight, will conclude with its 7th volume, which will hit shelves at the end of the summer. Set in 2012 Kabukicho, the story tells of the touching relationship between Yamada, who works at a nightclub, and her new coworker Mii-chan, who has developmental disabilities. Inspired by the author's own nightlife experiences, this series made a big impact from its first chapter with a structure that hints at Mii-chan's tragic end to the reader.
Both series are attracting attention not only in Japan but also in the Western world. Lonely Deaths Lie Thick as Snow is being brought to English readers by Kodansha USA, while Mii-chan and Miss Yamada is published under the Seven Seas Entertainment label. With the conclusion of these two series, it is expected that the way will be cleared for new projects on the Magazine Pocket platform. If you are looking for an immersive and emotional finale for this summer, don't forget to add the completed volumes of these two series to your list!
