New Series from the Creator of Love and Lies: Lirim Holic Meets Readers

Musawo, one of the beloved names in the manga world, has returned with their long-awaited new project. The artist, who reached a massive global fanbase with the Love and Lies (Koi to Uso) series, officially launched their new romantic comedy manga titled Lirim Holic in the 24th issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine on May 13th. Unlike the author's previous drama-heavy works, this new series promises a more fun story built on misunderstandings.
Lirim Holic focuses on the comedic and romantic conflict between a succubus who has blended into society and a "high-consciousness" (ishiki-takai kei) young man. At the center of the story are Yui Hayato, who appears quite serious and successful on the outside but is actually an otaku, and his classmate, the succubus Katou Emu. The secret feelings the two harbor for each other, combined with major misunderstandings stemming from the characters' personality traits, result in total chaos. In particular, Katou Emu's nature of trying to hide her desires (muttsuri) is one of the most important elements carrying the humor of the series.
The artist Musawo is known in the manga world especially for the Love and Lies series, which was published between 2014 and 2022. Set in a dystopian Japan where the government chooses partners for its citizens, this series spanned 12 volumes and inspired a successful anime adaptation in 2017, as well as a live-action film. Musawo proved their creativity by making a rare move in the industry at the finale of their previous series by offering readers two different endings (separate volumes for two different heroines).
This new beginning follows Musawo's work on the digital platform Manga Box.
