Nana Nanano's New Manga "Nyanpani!" Begins Serialization in Ciao Magazine

An exciting debut took place in the May issue of Shogakukan's long-running shoujo manga magazine Ciao, which hit shelves on April 3rd. Mangaka Nana Nanano's previously published one-shot story Nyanpani! (にゃんぱに!), which received great interest from readers, has begun its publication life as a regular series due to popular demand. This special issue of the magazine also includes Detective Conan-themed bonus gifts and promotions for fans.
At the center of the series is a high school student who projects an ambitious and cool gyaru (a follower of Japanese fashion subculture) image with her appearance, but has a very innocent heart. The story covers this young girl discovering the feeling of love for the first time in her life and the sweet excitement she experiences during this process. Nyanpani! skillfully handles the fun contrast (gap moe) between the character's "cool" stance in the outside world and her inexperience in her inner world, offering a sincere narrative to enthusiasts of the genre.
Nana Nanano is a rising name known for her cute drawing style and emotionally deep stories that appeal especially to young female readers. Having previously attracted attention with works such as Kimi no Koto ga Suki Sugite Nyan Nyan, the artist highlights the "Nyan" (cat meow) theme and elements of cuteness in this new series as well. Ciao magazine, as one of Japan's three largest shoujo magazines alongside Ribon and Nakayoshi, plays a critical role in the serialization processes of such new talents.
The increasing interest in "innocent gyaru" characters in the manga world in recent years provides a strong foundation for the success of Nyanpani!. As readers follow the character's vulnerability toward love and her coming-of-age story, they are eagerly waiting to see how side characters will be included in the story in future chapters. The interest in the first chapter of the series has already been enough to get fans talking about the possibility of a future anime adaptation.
