New Series from the Creator of Abyss Rage: Muteki no Subaru Begins on Shonen Jump+

Renowned mangaka Nariaki Narita, known for his martial arts and action-packed stories, has returned with a new project that has excited his fans. Narita's new manga series, titled Muteki no Subaru (Invincible Subaru), began its publication on April 12th on Shueisha's popular digital platform Shonen Jump+. The series focuses on a genius who possesses superior talents in every field and has never seen defeat in his life, exploring the process leading up to his first loss and the psychological transformation he experiences during this period.
Nariaki Narita made a name for himself especially with the Abyss Rage series, which was published between 2018 and 2021 and received great attention worldwide. Abyss Rage achieved international success on Manga Plus by presenting the revenge story of a blind martial artist with impressive visuals. The author's next work, Kinnikujima (Muscle Island), where physical strength is at the forefront, was another important production that reinforced Narita's dynamic drawing style and character depth.
The new series Muteki no Subaru focuses on a slightly different theme than Narita's previous works. The story delves deep into the loneliness brought by the concept of "invincibility" rather than just physical strength, and what a genius feels when facing failure for the first time. Unlike the classic "weak-to-strong" story structure of the Shonen genre, watching a character at the peak explore their downfall or human side seems to offer a quite fresh experience for readers.
The Shonen Jump+ platform has increased its weight in the industry in recent years by hosting giant productions such as Spy x Family and Kaiju No. 8. The fact that the new series of a proven name like Narita has started on this platform already strengthens the potential for the series to receive an anime adaptation in the future. Although no official announcement has been made yet, considering Narita's global popularity, Muteki no Subaru is expected to be added to the Manga Plus library with English language support very soon.
