The Neko to Ryuu Universe Expands: New Spin-off Mikemike no Nekoneko Guild Releases Its First Volume

The Neko to Ryuu (Cat and Dragon) series, which captivates cat lovers and fantasy world enthusiasts, continues to expand with a brand new adventure. The spin-off manga Mikemike no Nekoneko Guild, penned by Nobuyoshi Samurai, one of the beloved illustrators of the series, officially released its first volume in Japan on May 7th through Takarajimasha publishing house. This new work presents the peaceful atmosphere of the original series to readers, this time through the daily hustle and bustle of a cat guild.

The main manga adaptation, started by Izumi Sasaki in 2017, has sold over 1.2 million copies worldwide, becoming one of the most successful examples of the "iyashikei" (healing/comforting) genre.
The newly released Mikemike no Nekoneko Guild, on the other hand, sheds light on a corner of this magical world that has not been explored in depth before. The story revolves around a cat named Mikemike, the mascot of the cat guild. Mikemike solves the problems of other cats in the guild, helps kittens looking for "starfish," or guides young cats trying to attract the attention of their crushes, offering readers both humorous and emotional moments. Nobuyoshi Samurai's unique soft drawing style blends the adorable antics of cats with a fantastic world, offering a fresh breath of air to fans of the series.
