New Fantasy Manga 'Kaigeki no Kinato' Volume 1 Hits the Shelves

The long-awaited first volume of Kaigeki no Kinato was released in Japan on June 4, 2025. This new series by author-illustrator Kent Amemiya, following Ruirui Senki, brings a fresh breath to the fantasy genre.
The story revolves around Kinato, a support mage who uses holistic magic. Kinato must carve his own path by specializing in an area that other mages ignore. While Amemiya's previous work Ruirui Senki was known for its combat and tactical focus, this new work focuses more on strategic support magic and character development.
Amemiya had established a solid place in the manga world especially with Ruirui Senki. The action and world-building in that series were well-received, but this time Amemiya weaves a different story by centering on a less explored magic system. The first volume of Kaigeki no Kinato is 190 pages long, and in addition to the regular edition, it was also sold with a special poster at some bookstores.
Published in Japan in Shonen Gangan magazine, the series does not yet have an international licensing agreement. However, given the popularity of the English translations of Amemiya's previous series, Kaigeki no Kinato is expected to reach the West soon. Meanwhile, fans of Ruirui Senki hope to find the same quality of fight scenes and character depth in Amemiya's new project.
When the second volume will be released has not been announced yet, but the positive response to the first volume indicates that Amemiya will continue working non-stop. For fans of fantasy works centered on support mages, Kaigeki no Kinato stands out as a series to follow.
