New Fantasy Manga 'Seiken-chan wa Kojiraseteiru' Starts in Monthly Shonen Gangan

The new fantasy manga series Seiken-chan wa Kojiraseteiru (聖剣ちゃんはこじらせている) officially began serialization in the July 2024 issue of Monthly Shonen Gangan. The magazine, published by Square Enix, hit shelves on June 12, and this new work by Tsumikidou has been meeting readers since that day.
The series' premise is quite interesting: The story revolves around the dynamics between a "troubled holy sword girl" (kojiraseta seiken-chan) and a "lazy adventurer boy" (mendokusagari no bōken-sha-kun). From the first chapter, the sword girl seems somewhat complicated and grumpy, while the adventurer is a type who doesn't care about anything and puts things off. When these two contrasting characters come together, a funny and engaging fantasy adventure is expected to unfold.
With this series, author Tsumikidou joins the Monthly Shonen Gangan family. The magazine has an important place in the manga world, having hosted masterpieces such as Fullmetal Alchemist (Hiromu Arakawa), Soul Eater (Atsushi Ōkubo), and Magi: Labyrinth of Magic in the past. Although not much is known about Tsumikidou's previous works, this new series offers a great opportunity for the author to showcase their talent.
Especially in recent years, the "sword girl" and "lazy hero" themes have become popular in both manga and light novels. Seiken-chan wa Kojiraseteiru aims to differentiate itself by taking the classic elements of this genre and blending them with humorous conflicts between characters. Fantasy-loving readers can find both action and romantic comedy elements in this series.
Since it's a series that has just started, long-term plans are not clear. However, it is expected to be serialized regularly in Monthly Shonen Gangan. Although there is no official Turkish translation yet, if the series gains popularity, it may be licensed by local publishers. Those who want to follow it can consider the original Japanese issues or scanlation groups.
