Renowned artist Arata Yamaji, who gained a large fanbase with the A Certain Scientific Accelerator series, has officially launched his new manga, Ryutuhegui, in a move that has delighted his fans. Meeting readers on Kodansha's Comic Days platform on Wednesday, April 29, this new production is set 100 years after humanity was defeated by dragons. Telling the story of humans forced to live underground encountering a mysterious child from the surface, the story promises a great start for those who miss Yamaji's dark and immersive storytelling style.
On the other hand, for those who love supernatural and romance-themed stories, there is good news from the The Ayakashi Hunter's Tainted Bride (Kizumono no Hanayome) universe. The second spin-off of the series, which has an original story by Midori Yūma and over 5 million copies in circulation worldwide, will begin its publication life in Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine on May 26. Behind this new project, titled Kōtō Onmyō Gakkō Kizumono no Hanayome Gaiden, are some very familiar names: the duo Tsugaru Toba and Sen Izumino, known for the adaptation of the Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi manga, will be responsible for the development of this short series.
On the licensing front, the rapidly growing publisher Crossed Hearts, founded in 2025, announced that it has acquired the English publishing rights for the manga OctoPiece, written by Mitomo Sasako. This new work by Sasako, known for the Danganronpa Gaiden: Killer Killer series, first appeared before readers in Japan on March 23. Set in a remote island nation called Arakam, this dark fantasy story follows the twisted sense of justice and the struggle of a soldier named Yuzuki in a world ruled by military power and faith. Crossed Hearts continues to expand its global portfolio with this license.
