New Manga "Savuma" Begins: A Dangerous Escape Where Faith and Music Intersect

The manga world began hosting a highly unique and dark story as of May 11, 2026. Written by Mitsuko Dotsu and launched on the HERO’S Web (Comiplex) platform, Savuma (サヴマ) combines themes of faith and music in a suspense-filled escape story. Receiving full marks from readers with its first chapters, the series centers on the struggle for survival of characters left on the fringes of modern society.
The story stars Uno Sei, a young music content creator who uploads his compositions to the internet but fails to reach the viewership numbers he expects. Sei, cornered by his career failures and intense anxiety about the future, finds his life completely changed when a mysterious man and a young girl move into the apartment next door. The mysterious power hidden in the voice of this young girl, who is understood to have escaped from a religious facility (a cult-like structure), will both enchant Sei and drag him into a dangerous "escape drama" from which there is no return.
The series' creator, Mitsuko Dotsu, is a name known in the manga industry for narratives with psychological depth. Stepping into her professional career with Cutting Age in 2016, Dotsu confirmed her talent by winning the Jury's Special Award at the prestigious Torch Manga Awards in 2021. In Savuma, we can clearly see the author's interest in the dark corners of the human soul, desires, and social pressures. The publisher platform, HERO’S Web, is known for featuring seinen works of various genres alongside iconic series such as Ultraman and Kamen Rider Kuuga.
Savuma, beyond being just a thriller story, is an "Faith x Music" exploration.
