Good News for Isekai Lovers with New Manga Series 'I Don't Want to Be the Villainess'

As the popularity of isekai and villainess genres never wanes, a new adaptation meets readers. Drawn by Kogure Kaoru, "I Don't Want to Be the Villainess, So I Should Have Aimed for a High-Paying Job in the Castle @COMIC" (original Japanese title "Akuyaku Reijō ni Zamaa Saretakunai node, Oshiro Zukume no Kōkyū Tori o Mezashita Hazu deshita @COMIC") started serialization on TO Books' digital platform Corona EX as of June 4, 2024.
The series is a comic adaptation of Urikita Urikko's light novel of the same name. The story revolves around a heroine reincarnated into an otome game world. However, this heroine does not want to end badly as a typical "villainess." Instead, she aims to live a high-paid and peaceful life working in the castle. Of course, this plan is disrupted by the interest of unexpected side characters.
This genre has gained great momentum in Japan and worldwide in recent years. The "villainess" subgenre has entered the mainstream with series like "My Next Life as a Villainess". The first chapter of the new series stands out with its humorous elements and cute art style. Kogure Kaoru is an illustrator who has previously contributed to various anthologies; this marks her first long-running series at a mainstream publisher.
The light novel author Urikita Urikko is well-known for web novels in the "shōsetsuka ni narō" style. Although the original novel has not yet been translated into Turkish, the manga adaptation's localization chances may increase if it gains popularity. The first chapter, available for free on the Corona EX platform, will be published regularly in the coming weeks.
