New Manga Series: The Strongest Assassin Reborn as a Villainess Countess

If you're tired of the average assassin story, a fresh breath awaits you. The manga “Hissatsu Reijou Riese – Tensei Shita Saikyou no Koroshiya wa, Yami wo Matou Akuyaku Reijou to Naru” (in Turkish: Deadly Countess Riese: The Reborn Strongest Assassin Becomes a Villainess Countess Cloaked in Darkness) written by Ugatsumatsuki started serialization on June 23 on Overlap's digital manga platform Comic Gald.
The story revolves around the world's most dangerous assassin suddenly finding themselves reborn as a “villainess countess” (akuyaku reijou). Our protagonist Riese, combining all the abilities from her past life – moving in the shadows, neutralizing targets in one move – with her new aristocratic identity, is she actually carrying out a disguise operation or a revenge plan? The answer to this question is the biggest mystery that sets this manga apart from other reincarnation-themed works.
Comic Gald is a platform that has previously hosted popular series like “Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute!” (The Eminence in Shadow). With this new series, it aims to bring a different perspective to the “akuyaku reijou” (villainess countess) genre. While fans of the genre are typically used to a woman being reborn as the villain of an otome game, this time a man (or a genderless assassin) awakening in the body of a countess adds both action and a dark tone to the genre.
Ugatsumatsuki's previous works include series like “Kuro no Shoukanshi”; the author's success in dark fantasy and battle scenes is evident in this new manga as well. The first chapter met readers on June 23, according to a report by Japanese publishing site Natalie. Although no official Turkish or English translation has been announced yet, the international fanbase of the genre has quickly started showing interest in the series.
As for why this series is important: In recent years, the “isekai” and “akuyaku reijou” genres have exploded. However, in most examples, the main character is an innocent young girl or a figure trying to bring justice in the game world. “Hissatsu Reijou Riese”, on the other hand, portrays a complete anti-hero with its assassin background. This is a great alternative especially for readers who like dark tones and are tired of just romance. Considering the fast-paced narrative in the author's previous works, the action level may increase in future chapters.
Will the manga, currently only one chapter released, continue on a weekly or monthly schedule? Since Comic Gald usually releases weekly chapters, we can say new chapters will come soon. If you're a fan of the genre, it's worth adding this series to your follow list – it might just be the most unusual reincarnation story of the year.
