New Series from Manga Artist Yamaguchi Katsumi: 'Courier h: We Deliver Things That Cannot Be Recovered'

Yamaguchi Katsumi's highly anticipated new manga series “Courier h: We Deliver Things That Cannot Be Recovered” (Original title: 運び屋h 取り戻せないものお届けします) met readers on June 16, 2024, in Young Champion Retsu No.7 published by Akita Shoten. The series promises much more than an ordinary courier story.
The manga centers on a young girl courier who delivers things that people have lost and can never get back — intangible objects like memories, emotions, regrets. In the first chapter, the strange orders she encounters and the touching stories behind them reveal the series' emotional tone. The delicate drawing style and character-focused narrative we know from Yamaguchi Katsumi's previous works are also evident in this new series.
Young Champion Retsu, as one of Akita Shoten's seinen-oriented magazines, targets an adult male readership. The magazine has previously published spin-offs of popular series such as Kuroshitsuji and Bastard!!. Yamaguchi Katsumi is an artist known for works like “Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou” (The Diary of the Old Bookshop); this new series shows him stepping into a different genre in his career.
What makes this series special is its transformation of the “courier” concept into the delivery of non-physical, spiritual burdens. Although there are many manga and anime with “delivery” themes today (e.g., “The Delivery Boy” or “Kino’s Journey”), Yamaguchi's approach offers a more abstract and melancholic atmosphere. In future chapters, the main character is expected to confront her past and her own losses.
New chapters will be published monthly in Young Champion Retsu. A license agreement for digital or print release in Turkey has not been announced yet, but the series can be followed on Akita Shoten's online platforms for Japanese-speaking readers. This work, which draws attention with its storyline and atmosphere, offers a must-read start for manga fans seeking emotional and philosophical depth.
