Omi no Ko's Fantastic Comedy 'Mou Yamete Kaifuku Shinaide Kenja-sama!' Takes Its Place on Shelves

Akita Shoten released the first two volumes of mangaka Omi no Ko's ("Saikyou no Shien-shoku 'Wajutsu' de Aru kedo, Sonra wa Tanin ni Makaseta") new series 'Mou Yamete Kaifuku Shinaide Kenja-sama!' (Stop It, Don't Heal Me, Sage!) in Japan on June 19, 2024. The publisher added new illustrations exclusive to this edition, in addition to the previously web-published chapters.
The story has a concept that turns classic fantasy tropes upside down. It focuses on a protagonist who, despite being a 'sage,' is constantly harassed and tormented by healing magic. The phrase 'Mou Yamete' (Enough Already) in the series' title humorously reflects the character's desperation. Omi no Ko is known for popular web novel adaptations such as 'Saikyou no Shien-shoku'; his works often prefer a narrative that subverts systems and questions power dynamics between characters.
The series initially started serialization on Akita Shoten's digital platform 'Manga Cross'. Quickly attracting readers' attention, the work stands out especially for its references to the 'torture fantasy' subgenre. While normally a sage would be respected, here the sage is constantly disturbed by healing magic, offering a fun criticism of the genre's typical patterns. The cover of the first two volumes depicts an anxious sage reflecting this absurd situation.
This new series by Omi no Ko particularly appeals to fans of comedy-fantasy works like 'Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku wo!' and 'The Hero is Overpowered but Overly Cautious'. After the release of the first two volumes in Japan, it has not been officially announced whether the series will continue, but the regular publication of web chapters suggests a third volume may be on the way. The series, which currently has no license agreement in Turkey, can be followed on digital platforms.
The series stands out not only for its humorous aspect but also for offering a creative combat system centered on an often passive ability like 'healing magic.' With this unusual concept, Omi no Ko aims to bring a fresh breath to fans of the genre. In the coming months, the series is expected to increase in popularity and attract the attention of international publishers.
