Ouroboros Stage Play Returns: Iconic Duo Together in New Visual!

Set in the dark labyrinths of the police and yakuza worlds, the Ouroboros: Keisatsu o Sabaku wa Ware ni Ari (Ouroboros: I Have the Right to Judge the Police) series is preparing to return to the stage. This cult crime drama, signed by mangaka Yuya Kanzaki, has shared the highly anticipated main visual for its upcoming restaging project. In the new visual, the intertwined composition of the series' heart, Ikuo Ryuzaki and Tatsuya Danno, once again emphasizes the story's 'two sides of the same coin' theme.
Ouroboros first began its journey in 2009 in Weekly Comic Bunch magazine and concluded in 2017 with a massive 24-volume collection. The story follows the revenge journey of two orphans who witnessed the murder of their teacher at the orphanage where they took shelter as children, and whose lives changed when the police covered up the crime. While Ikuo becomes a successful detective rising through the ranks of the police force, Tatsuya transforms into a yakuza leader climbing to the top of the underworld. Their secret alliance, symbolized by the 'Ouroboros' tattoo, is considered one of Japan's most powerful crime and justice stories.
The series gained worldwide popularity, especially with the 2015 live-action series starring Toma Ikuta and Shun Oguri. Stage plays offer fans a different experience by combining this deep story with the dynamic atmosphere of theater. These types of adaptations, which have an important place in Japan's '2.5D' stage art culture, blend the characters' emotional depth and action scenes with live performances to bring the atmosphere of the manga to the stage.
This new staging once again proves the timelessness of the series and the loyalty of its fan base. The dark and dramatic tone in the shared visual signals that the play will remain faithful to the original manga. Questioning the concepts of crime, loyalty, and justice, the stage performance of Ouroboros is a production not to be missed for both old fans and those new to the series. Details regarding ticket sales and the full cast are expected to be clarified in the coming weeks.
