The Side-Story Manga of Square Enix's Horror Phenomenon PARANORMASIGHT Comes to an End

The PARANORMASIGHT universe, one of Square Enix's most notable horror-mystery projects in recent years, is preparing to bid farewell with its side story. It has been announced that the manga PARANORMASIGHT: File 25 - Reikan Shōjō Kurosuzu Mio no Kaigō (The Accidental Encounter of Medium Girl Mio Kurosuzu), illustrated by Hinase Momoyama and expanding the game's world, will conclude with its second volume, to be published on August 6, 2026. This information, appearing in retail listings, marks the end of a short but intense adventure for fans of the series.
Starting its journey on Square Enix's Manga UP! platform in November 2025, this manga was prepared in close collaboration with the original game's development team. Written by mystery novelist Sōshi Kawasaki, the story focuses on Mio Kurosuzu, one of the game's most beloved characters. Set in Tokyo's Sumida ward and taking place shortly after the events of the main game, the series follows two young girls as they pursue mysterious legends in northern Tokyo. The manga, whose first physical volume hit shelves on February 6, 2026, is known for successfully translating the game's atmosphere onto paper.
Looking at the origins of the series, we see a great success story that began with the release of the game PARANORMASIGHT: The Seven Mysteries of Honjo in 2023. Developed by Xeen and written by Takanari Ishiyama, the game received great acclaim for presenting 1980s Japan with 360-degree panoramic visuals. The production even proved its worth by receiving an "Award for Excellence" at the Japan Game Awards 2023. Following this success, the release of a new game titled PARANORMASIGHT: The Mermaid's Curse in February 2026 was the greatest proof that the series had turned into an anthology.
The end of the manga does not mean the series is over entirely. In an interview given in recent months, the series director Takanari Ishiyama announced that serious discussions were underway for an English localization of the manga. This indicates that the series, which is concluding in Japan, could reach a new global audience. For PARANORMASIGHT fans, the real question now is whether the next stop for this mysterious universe will be a new game or a different media adaptation.
