Good News from Paru Itagaki: Beast Complex Series Returns with a New Story

We have great news for fans of the BEASTARS universe! The series' creator, the famous mangaka Paru Itagaki, has officially announced that she will be writing a new one-shot story for her beloved anthology series Beast Complex this summer. This new chapter, which will be published in Weekly Shonen Champion magazine, will once again showcase Itagaki's passion for the complex social dynamics of anthropomorphic animals.
This announcement comes shortly after Itagaki's recent projects. The mangaka recently completed her Ushimitsu Gao series, which blends horror and romance genres. Looking at Itagaki's career, we see that she often rewards her fans by returning to the Beast Complex world after finishing her major projects. The series, which also appeared with new chapters in 2021 and 2023, continues to explore the depths of the BEASTARS universe.
Beast Complex is actually a project that started in 2016, even before the BEASTARS series. This anthology, which tells stories of tense relationships between carnivores and herbivores, social prejudices, and friendships through short stories, formed the foundation of the main series. The series, which has had four volumes published to date, focuses not only on familiar faces like Legoshi or Haru, but also on the stories of many different species living on the fringes of this world.
The timing of this new chapter is quite significant. The second part of the highly anticipated final season of the BEASTARS anime series will meet viewers on Netflix in March 2026. As we approach the finale of the anime, Itagaki's return to the original universe with a new manga chapter is sure to boost the series' popularity.
