New Historical BL Series from Pink Aomata: "Kinban!! ~Edo Kinban Boys' Life~" Meets Readers

Pink Aomata, a master of the Boys Love (BL) genre, has returned with a new project that will take fans deep into the past. The artist's new historical manga, titled Kinban!! ~Edo Kinban Boys' Life~, officially began serialization on March 28th in Shinshokan's Wings web magazine. The series presents Aomata's unique art style blended with historical fiction for readers.
The series is set in the atmosphere of Japan's famous Edo period and centers on the story of Harutarō, a low-ranking samurai from the countryside. Harutarō is sent to Edo (modern-day Tokyo), the central government, for a special mission. The term Kinban, which gives the story its name, is a historical concept referring to samurai who served for a certain period in Edo, away from their own regions. The story handles the cultural shocks Harutarō encounters during this mandatory duty, his samurai duties, and the emotional bonds he forms with other men in a sincere tone.
Pink Aomata has a very deep-rooted history in the manga world. Having gained a large fan base with their epic work Hakkenden (Eight Dogs), which was published between 1989 and 2002 and consists of 15 volumes, the artist has produced many successful works in the shojo and BL genres throughout their career. Aomata's detailed background drawings and success in reflecting the complex emotions in the inner worlds of characters signal that this new series will be rich in both visual and narrative terms.
For readers interested in productions that blend historical fiction and romance, Kinban!! draws attention with the realistic slices of daily life it offers from the period. This series, in which we will watch the conflict between the strict rules of samurai culture and human emotions, becomes a work that should not be missed by BL lovers when combined with Aomata's characteristic style. How Harutarō will adapt to his new life in Edo and who he will lose his heart to in the upcoming chapters of the series has already become a subject of great curiosity within the community.
