Japan's Popular Manga 'Unmarried Fraud' Becomes Live-Action Drama

Another notable work from the Japanese manga world is being adapted into live action. The manga "Unmarried Fraud ~ The Face I Don't Know" (未婚詐欺 ~私の知らない彼の顔), drawn by Ishikawa Tommy and based on an original story by Aizawa Atsuko, full of suspense and marital secrets, will meet the audience as a live-action drama on July 16, 2025.
The lead roles are shared by famous actress Kitano Kii and Fujiwara Itsuki from the popular J-Pop group THE RAMPAGE. Kitano brings to life the character Sayaka Shindo, who tries to uncover her husband's mysterious face, while Fujiwara will portray the husband Shinji Shindo with dark secrets. The series will air in the "Drama Tokku" slot on MBS, tvk, and other channels.
The original story of the manga deeply explores themes of trust and betrayal in marriage. The story begins with a woman who knows nothing about her husband's past, learning that he is actually a 'marriage fraudster' living under a different identity. This manga, full of suspense, psychological warfare, and surprising twists, quickly gained a large fanbase among Japanese readers. Aizawa Atsuko is known as an author who has previously produced works in similar dark romantic suspense genres.
This adaptation once again shows the recent interest of Japanese late-night dramas in manga. The "Drama Tokku" slot has previously hosted many popular manga adaptations. Fans are eagerly awaiting how successfully this adaptation will reflect the dark atmosphere of the manga. The first episode of the series will air on July 16, with subsequent episodes airing weekly.
