Pukupuku's New Manga Series "Runaway Mall" Launches in Ao Kishi

Pukupuku, one of the beloved names in the manga world, has come before readers with his new work "Runaway Mall". The series was presented to readers by KADOKAWA in the 32nd issue of Ao Kishi magazine, published on June 19, 2025. The first chapter drew attention with a special spot on the magazine's cover.
Pukupuku is known especially for his works in humor and absurd comedy. The mangaka, who previously created series such as "Pocchari-chan" and "Pukupuku no Hitorigoto", this time focuses on the events that befall a popular singer trapped in a shopping mall. The story tells of a famous female singer trying to hide in a shopping mall after a scandal and the funny, engaging incidents she encounters.
Ao Kishi is known as Kadokawa's monthly manga magazine that opens doors to young talents and experimental works. Starting publication in 2020 as a successor to Harta magazine, it quickly built a loyal readership with its alternative and creative series. Having previously hosted award-winning series such as "Witch Hat Atelier" and "To Strip the Flesh", the magazine aims to increase its genre diversity with Pukupuku's new series.
Pukupuku's previous works had been praised for their humorous narrative focusing on the daily lives of female characters. "Runaway Mall", however, centers on a celebrity, exploring themes of fame, escape, and interaction with ordinary people. In the first chapter, the singer's meeting with a group of young people in the mall reveals both the comedic and emotional aspects of the story.
The series is planned to be published regularly in every issue of Ao Kishi. It is not yet announced when "Runaway Mall", which has already garnered great interest on social media in Japan, will arrive on official translation platforms in Turkey. However, considering Kadokawa's international digital moves, the series is expected to meet readers in English and other languages in a short time.
