First Volume of Rei Mikamoto's New Vampire Manga 'Blood Friend' Released

Blood Friend, a brand new vampire romance manga from the pen of Rei Mikamoto, has met readers. The first volume was released in Japan on June 12, 2025. Mikamoto is a name known for works in horror and supernatural genres such as Zombie Loan and Ushiro no Shomen Kamisama.
The series tells a story centered around a vampire high school girl. Unlike the genre where vampires' dark and bloody aspects are often highlighted, Blood Friend adopts a more youth and romance-focused approach. The cover of the first volume features a cute vampire girl design with pink tones predominating.
Throughout her career, Rei Mikamoto has developed a unique style that combines both horror and humor. Comments such as "Mikamoto writing a vampire-themed romance manga is surprising but equally exciting for fans." are being made. The author, previously known for series like Mononoke and Hakaiju, now presents a lighter story appealing to younger readers.
Although subsequent volumes have not been announced yet, given the positive reception of the first volume, a quick second volume is expected. For vampire romance lovers, Blood Friend brings a different breath from the classics of the genre. No official English or Turkish license announcement has been made yet, but thanks to Mikamoto's international fan base, it is likely the series will reach the West soon.
