Trailer Released for Shimobe no Ouji-sama Drama: Opening Song by BUDDiiS

Shimobe no Ouji-sama (Turkish: The Prince's Servant), the highly anticipated first trailer for the live-action drama adaptation of the BL manga has been released. According to Natalie's report, the 60-second video also revealed the key visual, additional cast, and details of the opening song. The most striking moment of the trailer is a scene that begins with one character licking another's foot — hinting at the series' bold and sadomasochistic tone.
The manga author Tatsumoto Mio is a well-known name in the BL genre. The Shimobe no Ouji-sama series tells a love story where power dynamics are reversed: a wealthy and arrogant prince becomes the slave of his former servant after a series of events. Tatsumoto, who has had other works adapted into dramas before, now brings his own drawn world to the screen. The manga gained great popularity in Japan both digitally and in print, and especially through panels shared on social media, it formed a cult following.
The trailer's music belongs to the opening song performed by Japanese pop group BUDDiiS. While the song's title has not been announced yet, a short clip is included in the video. Additional cast members have also been announced; the lead actors were revealed in previous announcements. The drama will air on MBS/TBS's "Dramaism" time slot. Although the exact release date has not been finalized, the first episode is expected to premiere in summer 2025.
Live-action adaptations of the BL (Boys Love) genre have exploded in recent years. The preference for more extreme stories like Shimobe no Ouji-sama shows producers' efforts to meet the target audience's expectations. The foot-licking scene that comes with the trailer's first reveal proves that the series is not afraid to break taboos. Especially fans who have read the original manga are eagerly waiting to see how faithful these scenes will be to the screen. In the coming weeks, new details such as a second trailer and release date are expected; stay tuned!
