A New Supernatural Thriller from Shonen Jump+: "Tokyo Metropolitan Reverse Cross Hospital" Released

Shueisha's popular digital manga platform Shonen Jump+ drew attention with a new one-shot work published on May 5th. The manga, titled Tokyo Metropolitan Reverse Cross Hospital (Japanese name Toritsu Gyakujuji Byouin), invites readers to a dark story that unfolds on the fine line between life and death. The scenario was written by Kawakaku, while the visual world of the work comes from the talented artist Ratman.
The manga's plot combines the frequently explored "inevitable fate" theme in the manga world with a medical mystery. At the center of the story is a young boy shaken by a mark that suddenly appears on his body, known as the "death mark" (shinu no kokuin). According to legend, those who bear this mark have only one week left to live. Our protagonist is taken to a mysterious hospital hidden from society and located underground, namely the Tokyo Metropolitan Reverse Cross Hospital, to escape this relentless end. However, this hospital is very different from the healthcare institutions we know; strange-looking doctors and an atmosphere full of secrets await him there.
The Shonen Jump+ platform has been making a name for itself recently, especially with the high-quality one-shot works it has published. Following the impactful one-shot works by Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, the platform continues to open its doors to new talents. Tokyo Metropolitan Reverse Cross Hospital, with both its visual details and intriguing plot, has already started to make readers wonder, "Will this story turn into a full series?" Especially the mysterious young girl character encountered in the hospital gives clues that the story could deepen in later parts.
