Shueisha Makes Manga Million Digital Platform Available Worldwide
Shueisha, one of Japan's largest manga publishers, made its new digital platform Manga Million available worldwide as of August 6, 2026. The app offers over 1 million translated pages from 400 different series and supports more than 100 languages. This makes it Shueisha's most comprehensive digital archive ever opened to international readers.
The platform's launch catalog includes major series with millions of fans, such as One Piece, Naruto, Bleach, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, and Kingdom. Also included are Oshi no Ko by Aka Akasaka and Mengo Yokoyari, and Ai Yazawa's cult classic Nana. The inclusion of Nana in particular shows that Shueisha is investing not only in popular shonen series but also in other genres.
In 2019, Shueisha launched its Manga Plus service, offering simultaneous release of new chapters of selected series to international readers alongside Japan. Manga Million is seen as a much bigger step in this strategy. The support for more than 100 languages aims to make it easier for non-English readers to read manga through official and legal means. This also represents an important development in providing an alternative to piracy sites.
Looking at Shueisha's history, the company was founded in the 1920s and has been behind some of the industry's most established magazines, such as Weekly Shonen Jump, which began publication in 1968. Having played a major role in the globalization of the manga industry through series like Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto, the publisher now aims to carry this legacy to new generations with its digital archive. This move, following platforms such as Kodansha's K Manga and Shogakukan's MangaOne, also intensifies digital competition among Japanese publishers.
No detailed information has yet been given about Manga Million's pricing model or its availability across all devices. However, launching with such a broad catalog indicates that the platform is planned as a long-term project. In the coming months, new series added to the catalog will be eagerly followed by fans waiting for official translations in different languages.
