Support for Young Basketball Players Continues with Slam Dunk Scholarship and B.LEAGUE Collaboration

Good news for Slam Dunk fans: The 'Slam Dunk Scholarship' launched by Takehiko Inoue and Shueisha in 2006 will organize a basketball clinic again this year in collaboration with B.LEAGUE's "B.DUNK KIDS PROJECT". The event aims to provide young players with both financial support and professional-level training, as it did last year.
Inoue, who created a basketball craze in Japan during the manga's publication from 1990 to 1996, established the Slam Dunk Scholarship in 2006 as part of the series' success. The program has supported hundreds of young athletes with educational and living expenses since then, and since 2022, it has also offered practical training opportunities through clinics held jointly with B.LEAGUE.
Inoue stated in his announcement: "I am very happy that this journey that started with manga touches the dreams of young people in real life. Seeing the excitement of children sweating on the court in these clinics we are holding hand in hand with B.LEAGUE reminds me of the energy I felt when I was writing Slam Dunk." Within the scope of the event, B.LEAGUE players will also coach and teach participants basic techniques, tactical knowledge, and game strategies.
The cultural impact of Slam Dunk in popularizing basketball in Japan is undeniable. Today, the legacy nurtured from manga plays a major role in the growth of B.LEAGUE and in guiding young people towards sports. Inoue's scholarship program combines sports and education by supporting young people not only on the court but also in school life. A student who attended the clinic last year said, "Inoue-san's stories taught us perseverance, and now with his direct support, we have the chance to realize our potential."
Although the exact date and location have not been announced yet, the clinic is expected to be held in several major cities, especially Tokyo, during the summer months. Applications are planned to open on the official website of the Slam Dunk Scholarship in the coming weeks. This step is the best proof that a bridge from manga to real life will continue for new generations.
