Lead Actors and Release Date for Summer of You Live-Action Series Announced!

Nagisa Furuya's beloved manga Summer of You (Kimi to Natsu no Naka), which has a large global fanbase, is preparing to be brought to television screens. According to the official announcement, the lead roles will be shared by young talents Tomoya Oku and Kazuto Mokudai. While this announcement has created great excitement among fans of the series, the broadcast schedule for the show has also been clarified.
Tomoya Oku, who previously drew attention with his performance in the Kamen Rider Revice series, will bring the character Wataru Toda to life. We will watch Kazuto Mokudai, known for Kamen Rider Geats and also a member of the group Genin wa Jibun ni Aru., in the role of Chiharu Saeki, a film enthusiast and popular student. The fact that the duo has worked together on different projects before increases the expectation among fans that the chemistry between the characters will be reflected on screen much more naturally.
Summer of You follows the friendship and romance that develops over a summer vacation between two high school students who are passionate about cinema. The story begins with Chiharu confessing his love to Wataru. However, instead of breaking the bond between them, this confession takes them on a "pilgrimage" journey to the locations where their favorite films were shot. The original manga began serialization in Ichijinsha's gateau magazine in 2017 and quickly became one of the most beloved examples of the genre.
The director's chair for the series is shared by Kozue Sasaki, known for Sugar Dog Life, and Takashi Haga from the series At 25:00, in Akasaka. The screenplay is written by Yo Saito. The music is composed by Erina Koyama.
