Tawawa on Monday Manga Goes on a Two-Month Hiatus: Return Date Announced

A short waiting period begins for Tawawa on Monday (Getsuyōbi no Tawawa) fans. According to the announcement in this year's 18th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine, the popular manga series by Kiseki Himura has entered a two-month hiatus. It has been announced that the new chapters, which readers are eagerly awaiting, will return with the 26th issue to be published on May 25th.
A very unique story lies behind the series' immense popularity. Starting in 2015 with single-panel illustrations that Kiseki Himura shared on his Twitter (X) account every Monday, Tawawa on Monday aimed to boost the morale of employees and students suffering from the Monday blues. The intimate interactions, especially between the main character Ai-chan and a businessman, allowed the series to quickly turn into an internet phenomenon. This success paved the way for an official manga serialization in Weekly Young Magazine in 2020 and subsequently a two-season anime adaptation.
In the manga world, such breaks are a method artists often resort to in order to both protect their physical health and maintain the quality of the story at the highest level. Tawawa on Monday is known for its unique "blue monochrome" drawing style (Blue Edition), and this style fits perfectly with the series' "Monday blues" theme. The series, which saw its 14th volume hit the shelves as of January 2026, has reached a wide fan base not only with its drawings but also with the stories of side characters like Kouhai-chan and Maegami-chan.
So, what can fans do during this two-month period? Checking out the anime episodes of the series available on Crunchyroll or re-reading the older volumes, which have also been translated into English by Denpa, could be a good option. With the big return on May 25th, we will all see what new stories Kiseki Himura will present to us. The return of this series, which colors Monday mornings, is already marked on calendars.
