The Promised Neverland Becomes a Musical: A Giant Project in Honor of the 10th Anniversary!

The long-awaited big news for The Promised Neverland (Yakusoku no Neverland) fans has finally arrived! To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the legendary manga series written by Kaiu Shirai and illustrated by Posuka Demizu, the story is being brought to the stage for the first time in a magnificent musical adaptation. Scheduled to premiere in Tokyo in the winter of 2026, this production will present the struggle for freedom of the genius children of Grace Field House to the audience through live performance.
The musical is being produced by RKX International, which has previously signed off on successful stage adaptations such as Kiki's Delivery Service and Shrek. The production team has launched an extensive open audition process to find talented child actors to portray the heart of the series: Emma, Norman, and Ray. This move demonstrates a desire to reflect the dramatic depth of the series and the childlike yet determined spirit of the characters on stage in the most natural way possible.
First published in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in August 2016, The Promised Neverland quickly became a modern classic. The manga, which concluded with its 20th volume in 2020, achieved incredible commercial success, selling over 42 million copies worldwide. Having previously inspired a two-season anime series by CloverWorks studio and a 2020 live-action film, the series is now preparing to prove itself on the theater stage.
This musical announcement has become a new ray of hope, especially for fans who were dissatisfied with the story deviations in the second season of the anime. As one of the most important parts of the 10th-anniversary projects, this stage adaptation is expected to faithfully reflect the dark atmosphere of the manga and its tension-filled escape plans. The results of the auditions and exact stage dates will continue to be announced through official channels in the coming months.
