The Reluctant Return of an Exiled Beauty: First Volume of Taida no Majo Spiecy Manga Released

A fresh and fun take on the "exiled hero" theme, which has become popular in the manga world recently, is arriving. The first volume of the manga Taida no Majo Spiecy (The Lazy Witch Spiecy), written by Akanomani and illustrated by kura, officially hit shelves on May 14, 2026, under the KADOKAWA label. The series has already managed to get on the radar of fantasy fiction fans with both its visual quality and its unconventional main character.
Our story revolves around Spiecy, who was once the kingdom's most talented mage and the prince's fiancée. Seen as a great genius at a young age, Spiecy was unjustly exiled from the kingdom 20 years ago after being accused of attempting to assassinate the current queen. After twenty years have passed, the door of this beautiful mage, who lives a "lazy" life in seclusion in a tower in the border region, is knocked on by Kuro, a young knight. Learning that the kingdom is in great danger, Spiecy, although she has little intention of getting up from where she is, is forced to take action (somewhat reluctantly) to save her former homeland.
Taida no Majo Spiecy is actually a series with deep roots. The story, which first began as an internet series on the popular web novel platform Kakuyomu, was published in light novel format by MF Books due to the intense interest it received from readers. While the illustrations in the light novel version belong to Gawako, kura's modern and detailed drawing style comes to the fore in this new manga adaptation. In particular, the fact that the main character is designed with a "Bimajo" (beautiful and mature woman) aesthetic gives the series a different vibe from other youth-oriented fantasy manga.
