New Romantic Comedy from Tsukumo Ino: "Himegoto Kakushigoto" Begins in Weekly Young Magazine
Author Tsukumo Ino, known for the popular romantic comedy series Boku no Kanojo wa Saikou da! (My Girlfriend is the Best!), has returned with an exciting new project. The author's new manga series, titled Himegoto Kakushigoto (Secrets and the Secret Child), officially began its serialization on May 11, 2026, in the 24th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Young Magazine.
The story follows Naomi Ueda, a high school student who discovers she is actually a "secret child" (illegitimate child) following her father's death. Shocked by this revelation, Naomi runs away from home and meets a girl named Yuzuru Fujisaki, who is also living as a runaway due to family issues. Yuzuru asks Naomi to pretend to kidnap her (a fake kidnapping) to worry her family and grab their attention. As their extraordinary journey turns into a pure romance, a shocking truth awaiting them at the end of the road will completely change the course of the story.
Tsukumo Ino gained a wide fan base for his success in handling intimate and fun dynamics between characters in his previous works. The Boku no Kanojo wa Saikou da! series, published between 2017 and 2020, proved how well the author balances his sense of humor with doses of romance. With his new series Himegoto Kakushigoto, the author blends themes of "step-siblings" and "family secrets," which have a more dramatic foundation, with his signature pure love-com style.
