Two New Romantic Comedy Manga Launch in Bessatsu Friend Magazine

Great news for romantic comedy lovers! The July 2024 issue of Bessatsu Friend magazine (released on June 12th) brings two brand-new manga to readers. These two series bring a fresh breath to the magazine's already rich shoujo and rom-com lineup.
Our first series is "Ouchi de Koi ga Matteru" (Love Awaits at Home) by Mitsuki Hana. The story depicts the romantic comedy of a very capable girl and a boy who constantly tries to help her, set in a home environment. The 'handy girl × helpful boy' dynamic promises a warm and sincere love story within everyday life. It is known that Mitsuki Hana previously worked as an assistant on popular series such as "Kuroiwa Medaka ni Watashi no Kawaii ga Tsūjinai"; this is her first long-running manga.
The second new series is "Ao wa Mijikashi Koiseyo Otome" (Blue is Short, Fall in Love, Girl) written and illustrated by Miu Nagaoka. This youth romantic comedy revolves around a female student who is a fighting game otaku. The protagonist, caught between her passion for games and her love life, experiences adventures in tournaments and school hallways, offering a narrative that touches on both gaming culture and youthful emotions. It should be noted that Miu Nagaoka previously attracted attention with her short work "Hōkago Shōnen".
Both manga are published in Bessatsu Friend magazine, a long-time favorite of shoujo fans from Kodansha. The magazine is known for hosting classics such as "Kimi ni Todoke", "Ao Haru Ride", and "Love So Life". The new series show the magazine's effort to maintain its traditional rom-com approach while also capturing an innovative line with modern themes (gaming addiction, home dynamics).
From a fandom perspective, these two series are exciting, especially for those who love different romance sub-genres. "Ao wa Mijikashi Koiseyo Otome" will attract young readers interested in gaming culture, while "Ouchi de Koi ga Matteru" will appeal to those seeking a love story developing in a warm and relaxing home environment. In future issues, the publication of these series on digital platforms in Turkey (for example, K Manga or official translation sites) will be a great gain for local readers. New chapters are expected to continue monthly in the magazine; stay tuned!
