Übel Blatt II Manga Series Ends on October 23

The sequel manga to Etorouji Shiono's dark fantasy series Übel Blatt, Übel Blatt II, ends on October 23. According to Anime News Network, the series, which began in February 2024, will complete its serialization with the chapter published on that date. In other words, the countdown has begun for Köinzell's story.
Übel Blatt II is a direct sequel to the original Übel Blatt manga, which was published in Square Enix's Monthly Gangan Wing and later Monthly Gangan Joker magazines between 2004 and 2019. The original series followed Ascheriit, one of the Seven Heroes who saved the empire, being betrayed by the other heroes and declared a traitor, and returning years later under the name Köinzell to seek revenge. The series, noted for its dark atmosphere and harsh battle scenes, was completed in 24 volumes. The original manga was also released in the West under the Yen Press label.
The sequel series tells a new story set after the events of the original manga. Übel Blatt II, which began in Monthly Gangan Joker in February 2024, has been an important work that expanded the series' universe during this time. Additionally, a 12-episode anime adaptation produced by Satelight and Staple Entertainment studios was released in January 2024. The anime was based on the original manga and helped the series reach a wider international audience.
The end of Übel Blatt II means that Shiono may take a long break from this universe. However, fans of the series hope that, as with the original manga, a new side story or sequel project may come in the future. The final chapter of the series, which has been followed through Square Enix's Monthly Gangan Joker magazine, will be published on October 23. This chapter will clarify how Köinzell's story concludes.
