Giant Collaboration Between Viz Media and MLB: "GalaXic Baseball League" is Coming!

The manga world and the professional sports community are coming together for an unprecedented project. Publishing giant Viz Media, MLB Players Inc., and famous Japanese artist Acky Bright have announced a new sci-fi manga series titled GalaXic Baseball League (GXBL). Starting its digital serialization on the Viz Manga app on July 2, 2026, the production transforms baseball from just a sport into an intergalactic struggle for survival.
The series creator Acky Bright is known for his unique style in the manga world, referred to as "kawakkoii" (cute and cool). Having previously worked with major brands such as DC Comics, Marvel, and McDonald's (the WcDonald's campaign), Bright states that he drew inspiration for this project from the 2023 World Baseball Classic final. On the editorial side of the project, there is a very heavy hitter: Hisashi Sasaki, the former editor-in-chief of Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. Sasaki, who was involved in the creation of legends like Naruto and One Piece, guiding this project demonstrates the series' ambition in terms of storytelling.
GalaXic Baseball League takes place in a distant future where baseball has become an intergalactic tournament. The most exciting aspect of the story is the active inclusion of real MLB stars in the plot. In the series, names like Aaron Judge, Fernando Tatis Jr., Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Juan Soto, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. collaborate with two young heroes against a dark conspiracy threatening Earth and the spirit of baseball.
