Volume 1 of the Manga Adaptation of 'A C-Rank Magic Student Who Thinks He's SSS-Rank' Now on Shelves

The first volume of the manga adaptation of A C-Rank Magic Student Who Thinks He's SSS-Rank (自分をSSS級だと思い込んでいるC級魔術学生) went on sale under Overlap's Gard Comics imprint on June 20, 2024. This comedy-filled adaptation of the original light novel written by nkmr comes to life through the pen of artist Yusuke Wakabayashi.
The series revolves around Kaito (the protagonist's name hasn't been finalized in official translations yet, but he's a typical shounen protagonist), a genuine C-rank student at a magic academy who thinks he's an SSS-rank genius. Kaito constantly dreams exaggerated dreams, and through misunderstandings and accidental successes, he unintentionally begins to write epics. This "wrong hero" story promises readers plenty of laughs. The manga gained great attention after the original web novel was published on Shōsetsuka ni Narō, and was later turned into a printed light novel series by Overlap.
Yusuke Wakabayashi is an artist who has previously worked on various anthologies and short series; this project stands out as one of his first long-running manga adaptations. nkmr is known for works featuring "misunderstanding" comedy and the excessive confidence of a low-level character. The first volume introduces readers to the main characters and the academy setting, while also including some of Kaito's funniest scenes.
Although there is no official license agreement in Turkey yet, the Japanese original can be obtained by interested readers from overseas platforms. Given the series' popularity, it is likely that an English translation, both digital and physical, will be announced in the coming months. If manga fans enjoy this kind of "misunderstanding" comedy, A C-Rank Magic Student Who Thinks He's SSS-Rank is definitely a series to follow. When the second volume will be released has not been announced yet, but let's note that the light novel has plenty of material.
