The World's Strongest "Supporting Character" Takes the Stage: Wakiyaku Kensei Manga Begins

A new "hidden power" story joins the world of manga! The light novel series Wakiyaku Kensei no Sokosoko Heion na Nichijou (The Supporting Sword Saint's Moderately Peaceful Daily Life), written by Sato and having reached a wide fan base in a short time, received its official manga adaptation as of May 13th. The illustrations for the series, which began publication on Overlap's beloved digital platform Comic Gardo, are handled by the talented artist Riku Miyake.
At the center of the story is Rustis Gilhadret (or Ras for short), one of the legendary "Seven Great Sword Saints" of the Almut Kingdom. Possessing the God's Eye (Shin'gan) ability, which allows him to see and analyze everything, Ras is actually one of the strongest warriors in the world, yet he has chosen to retire from active duty and live a peaceful life in a rural region. However, after he saves a young silver-haired girl named Satie from an attack during a kingdom meeting he reluctantly attended, the quiet retirement days he dreamed of begin to fade away one by one.
The series masterfully handles the "retired but overpowered middle-aged man" (ossan) theme, which has become quite popular in the manga and anime world in recent years. In the production, which features original character designs by Garuku, we watch Ras become not just a master, but also a figure who guides young warriors who are talented but struggle to control their powers. Comic Gardo, as a platform that has previously hosted giant productions such as Arifureta and Skeleton Knight in Another World, signals that this new series will also offer a high-quality fantasy experience.
